Mother of Necessity

because sometimes, you just have to.

It’s A Family Thing

Are you ready for another great idea to use Peanut Butter? I have the perfect treat for breakfast or dinner.

This treat has been passed down through four generations in my family and it continues to grow. Most of my family have Peanut Butter as a staple in our homes.

It’s real simple to make. Here are the ingredients you will need.

  1. Frozen or home made pancakes. I use frozen because I am lazy and there’s no mess to clean up. You can make your pancakes from scratch, if you want.
  2. Jar of Peanut Butter. It can be any brand. It can be creamy or chunky. I prefer creamy.
  3. Syrup: Of your choice. Just plain maple syrup is best. I do not recommend any flavored syrups like blueberry. It will ruin the flavor.

Make your pancakes. I am not going to give a recipe for homemade pancakes. There are so many out there or can buy the quick mixes at your local grocery store. In my case, I microwave my frozen pancakes.

Place on plate.

Plain pancake

Slather Peanut Butter on pancake. No need to real butter. If you are having a stack of cakes, slather Peanut Butter on each cake. If you are like me, I put a healthy portion on the cake. If you are first-timer you can use less, if you are scared.

Pancake w/peanut butter

Pour syrup on Pancake. I recommend using a little more then you usually do because the Peanut Butter needs it. You can also heat up the syrup if you want. It helps the Peanut Butter melt.

Pancake with PB

Take a bite and enjoy the gooey goodness.

Pancake w/PB & syrup

Now that you think I have lost my mind. Please give it a try. It’s sweet, gooey and yummy. All the ingredients complement each other nicely. It’s like they were meant to be together.

My kid won’t eat a pancake unless it has Peanut Butter on it. It’s the same way with my nieces, nephews and cousins.

You can have this treat all by itself or a meal. Add an egg and some bacon/sausage with a glass of milk and you have a great dinner. The kids will love you for this treat.

I still have this as a splurge. It brings back so many memories as a kid. Now whenever I go out to eat and I order pancakes, I ask the wait staff if they have Peanut butter. Most of the time it’s a “No” but I always get….May I ask why you wanted Peanut Butter. Then I am a happy camper. I get to share my family treat with another person.

Give it a try and please share your responses with me. I would love to know what you think.
